Written for the Sacred Singers of St. John's, this arrangement of the familiar carol takes the narrative of all the verses and traverses numerous key areas and time signatures demonstrating the long journey that the three Wise Men braved to reach the birth of Jesus.
The refrain mostly stays in 5/4 time signature emphasizing the difficulty and unevenness of the journey, but the determination of the Wise Men to reach their destination.
Interspersed throughout the piece is a slow and contemplative section. It begins the piece as an introduction to the manger scene that is calling the Wise Men. The piece ends with the arrival of the Wise Men to the manger and the peace and calm that is brought throughout the world by the birth of Jesus.
