For Piano Solo with Spoken Word

Pilgrimage is dedicated to my grandfather, Roy Boostrom. Written for his funeral service, this piece was designed to accompany a reading from Childe Harold’s Pilgrimage by Lord Byron. The passage being used looks on the passage from this life to the next as bittersweet. The music is uplifting and hopeful of what may come in the next life, but still bearing the weight of all that is being left behind, specifically the friends and family that must bear the loss of their loved one.
